How do I search for an empirical article?

Answer

There are a several ways. One way is just to add the word "empirical" to your search terms. This should catch a good deal of content in the majority of our databases. You can also add terms such as "methodology," "quantitative," "qualitative," or "mixed methods."

A few databases, such as Cochrane Library and Medline, are indexed by MeSH headings, one of which is "Empirical Research," so you can apply that to your search as well within those specific databases to narrow results down just to empirical studies.
